Shrink a photo to fit an upload limit

The form says "maximum 1 MB" and your phone photo of the ID copy is 4 MB. Pick the photo, pick the limit, and you get a copy just under it, as sharp as that limit allows.

Your photo never leaves this device. It is shrunk inside your browser, so it is safe for ID copies, payslips and bank statements. Online "compress" sites upload your document to someone else's server; this does not.

Tips

• iPhone photos (HEIC): open this page in Safari, which can read them. Or set **Settings >

Camera > Formats > Most Compatible** so new photos save as JPG.

• A scanned page still unreadable? Choose a bigger limit or a longer side of 2000 pixels. Text

needs more pixels than faces.

• PDFs are not supported here; take a photo of the page instead.
